Summing up the Jehovah's Witnesses
by Knowsnothing inif you could describe the jehovah's witnesses, in a sentence (no run-ons please) what would it be?.
.
jehovah's witnesses are mostly harmless; just don't join 'em..

Undercover apostates...
by Maze ini've observed some forum users here that claim to be active witnesses (even claims to be ministerial servants or elders) while duplicitously supporting apostates online.
my contention is this; why attend meetings and/or participate in the preaching activity when the second you divulge your apostate thinking into the congregation, you'll be disfellowshipped?
while this action taken may seem to be harsh, the outworking of events wouldn't be much different in one of christendom's churches.

Who said anything about divulging my thinking/identity into the congregation? And who said anything about being apostate?
Why do I visit JWN?
1. I come to this forum because this site has curative powers.
2. I get a rush out of talking behind 'Mothers' back.
3. I come to this site to get the truth about the 'truth'. The WTBTS is like a snake in the grass. I've learned from this forum how destructive the GB & its' lieutenants can be and really are.
Hope this helps!

The Infamous May 15th 1984 Watchtower "1914: The Generation That Will Not Pass Away"
by PublishingCult in.

i do not know how the blogger who posted this infamous wt cover (5/15/84) got all the names of those who posed for this magazine cover, or whether the names are even correct, but if he got it right, man, what a provocative statement.. .

Wonder what long winded rebuttal someone, like say..........'djeggnog' would have to this thread.
I mean how could anyone in his right mind defend the WTBTS after this obvious screw-up?
Can't help but think of 1Cor 4:6 ......'Do not go beyond the things that are written'. The WTBTS clearly went way too far on speculating on this one!
I think an apology from the Society to JW world is in order. This magazine boldly demonstrates the type of roller coaster ride the WTBTS has put its' members thru over the years.
on this topic.

You'll lose your life and that of your children if you don't come back
by truthseeker init was a beautiful, sunny day.
i was in the supermarket doing an early morning shop when i see an old friend of the family, a jw sister.. she asked me if i'd gone to the memorial and i told her no.
she said that the end is so close what with all the earthquakes and brother truthseeker, you need to come back to jehovah otherwise you will die and so will your children.

If she was as emotional as you say (in tears) there is a good possibility she was on meds. You'd be surprised how many JWs are!

Today's WT Study Stupidity About Df'ing
by metatron inin today's watchtower study, towards the end, you had one of those typical comments by a former df'ed witness expressing appreciation for being shunned.
these comments always remind me of a stalinist show trial in which the accused enthusiastically accepts being executed for the greater good (probably to save his family).. after this kind of nonsense is expressed, you will get a flurry of self righteous comments emphasizing how important it is to shun your disfellowshipped relatives, so that they can come back in the "truth".. oh, really?
do any of these people raising their hand realize that, if the "success" of disfellowshipping depends on your shunning, then the "repentant" person is "coming back in the truth" for the sake of their relatives -and not because of fearing jehovah !!!???.

Blondie's Comments You Will Not Hear at the 05-01-2011 WT Study (LAWLESNESS)
by blondie indo you hate lawlessness?.

wannabefree: I also thought it was odd that they used the word 'regular' not once but twice.
At best these paragraphs (#15 & #19) will allow a loved one (parent, brother, sister, servant etc) to put up a good argument should they be called on the carpet for occasionally hanging out with a DF'd individual. The JC would have to yield (and perhaps learn something new).....cause its' in print!

DavinciCodeBreaker wrote regarding what GB member David Splane stated re: disfellowshipped ones: 'So you can expect that in the days ahead they will continue to tighten the screws on disfellowshipping'!
Did anyone notice the words 'associate regularly' in par 15 and the words 'maintained regular contact' in par 19? As though perhaps there is a softening being alluded to by using these words with regard to shunning!
Par 15 reads in part 'Would I choose to associate regularly with someone......' The emhasis being placed on the word .....regularly.
Par 19 reads in part ......'Do you think that this person would have been helped to come to such a conclusion had members of the congregation, including her family, maintained regular contact with her while she was disfellowshipped?' The emphasis being placed on the word ....regular.
Instead of tightening the screws is the WTBTS perhaps changing and lightening up on its' long held evil and cold stand toward disfellowshipped ones?
Is the following expression going by way of the dinosaurs....."A simple 'Hello' to someone can be the first step that develops into a converstion and maybe even a friendship"?
Is it possible that GB member David Splane didn't read/study this weeks' lesson on perhaps how it is now OKAY to have irregular (as opposed to regular) association with disfellowshipped ones?
Any thoughts?
